Local Selma artist Kristen Jones has been painting forever, she says, but with a new studio space just off of Broad Street, she has found a renewed burst of creativity.
Recently she painted five mixed media works on reclaimed wood inspired by her time in Uganda with Integrity Worldwide years ago. The paintings show beautiful depictions of the Maasai people as well as African wildlife. Kristen said she drew inspiration from her time in Uganda as well as her husband Woody’s pictures of his trip to Kenya.
Integrity Worldwide is honored she will be selling these works and she is donating proceeds to Integrity Worldwide.
“This is my way of being able to bless Integrity Worldwide through my artwork,” Kristen said. “Even though there is so much poverty in Africa, it is such a beautiful place with beautiful people and there are things we take from there that we can hold in our hearts forever.”
She said it is not easy to go to Africa often, but the images, memories and pictures we have of Kenya and Uganda can always take us back.
It is easy to see this truth in her paintings of Africa.
At Integrity Worldwide, we are so thrilled that Kristen and many others are using their creativity to glorify the Lord.
If you are interested in purchasing one of the paintings, you can email Kristen (firstname.lastname@example.org) and set up a time to view the paintings in her studio. The paintings range between $105 and $150.
